Oamaru

Arrived in Oamaru down Highway 1. It is a great little town with old stone buildings. It is also home to the Steampunk Museum! and colonies of penguins. Staying in a fabulous apartment out in the country - see the pictures!

Christchurch - Banks Penisular

The accommodation issues on the west meant we headed east, across Arthur's Pass - spectacular. Staying in a great homestay. Visited the amazing Banks Penisular - incredible scenery.

Towards the Glaciers

Took a trip down to the Glaciers - went on a wild life trip to see the White Heron's nesting - at the only place on NZ that they nest, then a helicopter trip over the glaciers before driving down to the Franz Joseph Glacier.

On to the South Island

A delayed crossing due to problems with an earlier boat meant that the ferry we were on took a longer, less rough route for the crossing. We headed straight to Nelson, which was busy due to the World Cup Cricket arriving on Monday.... Today we headed across to the west coast, to the town of Westport.
